Meet your Invisibly Brilliant Team

Jennifer Smallridge

Jennifer is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who started helping people living with chronic, invisible illness in 2015. She found herself regularly deep diving the research and quickly learning from others’ lived experiences to develop an empathic, clinical approach, before undertaking an intensive mentorship with Florence Kelly in 2018. She lives in a hypermobile body, struggled with glandular fever in high school and is prone to POTSiness herself.

She is passionate about “using her spoons” to support people living with ME/CFS, POTS, Long Covid, fibromyalgia, hEDS/HSD & all associated conditions; all through a trauma informed and neuroaffirming lens. Every single assessment & session is different, which lights her up and keeps her constantly listening & learning. This interest, combined with previous experience as a university lecturer, has led to presenting opportunities for the Australian POTS Foundation, EDS Society, Australian Psychological Society, Osteopathy Australia and many more.

Jennifer formally founded Invisibly Brilliant in 2024 after returning from maternity leave for the second time. The notable lack of high quality education available for health professionals feeling curious about chronic illness lead to the development of Connection Medicine Co. with Florence Kelly in 2020. They love running courses, custom workplace education & health professional retreats in this space.

Jennifer lives in Melbourne with her husband Tom, two little boys Hugo & Freddie, and a Labrador x Tasmanian Smithfield named Barney. When she’s not on Telehealth, Jennifer loves reading, dancing (especially tap!), embroidery, knitting, and going on family adventures.

Jade Brodie

Jade is a passionate and dedicated Physiotherapist with over 18 years of experience in private practice. After years trying to understand her own health issues and pain, she developed a passion for working with other individuals experiencing chronic pain and illness. Jade has a special interest and also lived experience with hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and chronic pain, and the journey of working with this community and many years of specialised professional development have led to a deep understanding of these conditions and how they can vary from person to person.

Based in Melbourne and working via telehealth, Jade has helped hundreds of clients with hypermobility, chronic pain, fatigue and disability. Her approach is holistic, with a focus on meeting her patients where they are at and working together to set and achieve individualised goals. She has a special interest in working with individuals with all types of chronic illness, including ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia and CRPS, and believes in educating, supporting and empowering her patients to achieve a happier, more functional life.

Jade is also an AHTA Associate Hand Therapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor. She is passionate about using movement as therapy when and where it is appropriate and loves to tailor her approach to each individual.

In her free time, Jade enjoys moving her body with pilates and yoga, bushwalking with her schnoodle, Oat, spending time with her nieces and seeing live music.
