Brilliance: Clinical Mentoring with Jennifer Smallridge

Are you a healthcare professional looking to deepen your understanding of chronic and invisible illnesses - and feel more confident supporting the patients who don’t fit neatly into standard models of care?

Brilliance is a flexible clinical mentoring offering for health professionals, designed to meet you where you’re at. Whether you’re wanting guidance with tricky presentations, support building your clinical framework, or a space to reflect and upskill with someone who “gets it” - this is for you.

Mentoring is practical, collaborative, and grounded in real-world clinical care.

What Brilliance can support you with:

A whole-person approach to chronic illness care

Develop a more holistic, patient-centred framework for working with complex and persistent symptoms.

Practical pacing strategies

Learn how to teach pacing in a way that’s actually usable - whether that includes activity and symptom diaries, wearable trackers, or simple day-to-day planning strategies that respect fluctuating capacity.

Symptom patterns, triggers and flare support

Build confidence identifying common patterns behind post-exertional malaise (PEM), pain flares, fatigue crashes, brain fog, and autonomic symptoms - and offering supportive strategies without causing harm.

Goal setting and future planning

Support patients to set goals that are compassionate, realistic, and genuinely achievable - even when energy and symptoms are unpredictable.

Advocacy and patient education

Gain tools to help patients communicate their needs with employers, educators, family members, and other healthcare providers - and feel more supported navigating systems that don’t always understand invisible illness.

Movement guidance (when and where appropriate)

Learn how to approach movement thoughtfully for people with chronic illness - including how to titrate safely, recognise warning signs, and adjust with confidence.

Nervous system and “whole human” care

Explore strategies around rest, regulation, safety, and recovery — and how to individualise these for different nervous systems, bodies, and lived experiences.

How mentoring is delivered

Brilliance is delivered via Zoom, and sessions are shaped around what’s most helpful for you. Mentoring may include:

  • case discussions and clinical reasoning support

  • troubleshooting challenging patient presentations

  • pacing + exercise prescription guidance (where appropriate)

  • reviewing frameworks, language, and education strategies

  • support with confidence, boundaries, and sustainability in this work

  • resource sharing and evidence-informed discussion

Areas of clinical focus

Brilliance is informed by years of specialised clinical work in the chronic illness space, including conditions such as:

ME/CFS, POTS / orthostatic intolerance, hypermobility / EDS, Long Covid, Fibromyalgia, persistent pain conditions, fatigue, and commonly overlapping presentations.

Care that is inclusive, safe, and accessible

You’ll also be supported to build care that is neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, culturally safe, gender-affirming, and respectful. People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.

If you’re ready to…

  • feel more confident working with complex, invisible illness presentations

  • have practical tools you can use immediately in your clinic

  • learn with a mentor who actively works in this space

  • develop care that centres the patient as the expert in their own health

…you’re warmly invited to connect.
